"Elementary my dear Wahabi" - UIR investigates downing of comm satellite

Spring, 1993, Baghdad: Minister al-Jaziirahh held a press conference today concerning the satellite shoot-down incident last winter. He explained that "UIR forces moved into the Arabian Sea solely in an investigative capacity, seeking to investigate the loss of the satellite as well as to protect any sensitive remnants that may have been discovered. We learned that an Iranian frigate had fired the killing missile into space, prompting an immediate invasion of Iran by the 1st Infantry Corps of the Grand Army of the Republic. As part of the invasion, we deposed the ruling mullahs and their puppet president, replacing the oppressors of the people with the freedom-loving, just, and equal rule of Prime Minister Marwan." Since the investigation into this satellite incident has concluded, the UIR fleet in the Arabian Sea is planning on withdrawing back into UIR home waters.

In other news: UIR forces were deployed to the Caucasus in greater numbers, after several troubling border incidents with Chechen rebels crossing from the USSR and attacking UIR settlements in Armenia. Moscow has given Riyadh its assurance that the rebels will be stopped. Also, dozens of military officials traveled to Moscow today, as part of an effort to rebuild and replace the existing military communication infrastructure whose weaknesses were brought to light in the satellite shoot-down incident.
