Spring 1927

Sorry about the lateness guys, I had alot of stuff going on tonight. The Dutch fleet that is in Celebes right now needs to retreat. I believe you will all agree (with the exception of the Ottomans) that this was a good turn.

Winter 1926-7

Post British Era

After the British Empire foolishly offered to surrender to the Russo-Japanese coalition, the sneaky Ottomans managed to claim all British territories. Surely such powerful nations as Russia and Japan could easily achieve the necessary 2/3 while leaving their ally in the west survive.

Ango-Dutch offer

After allied consultation, the Anglo-Dutch Entente have decided that they will surrender to the Russo-Japanese at the end of this year if that coalition will cooperate in eliminating the Ottoman Empire once and for all from the map. If the Ottomans are left with no builds by the end of this year then the Russo-Japanese may consider themselves victorious.

Ottomans Rejoice

In light of the recent post by the British Empire, the Ottomans are delighted to see such a "great power" devote all of its time and energy to the Ottoman Empire. While the Ottoman Empire did not extend its power across the globe, its small tactical armies and fleets successfully held off British invasion in the Mediterranean scene. General Midic S Hurton questions the British Empire's "great" power seeing as how they could not conquer such a small empire like the Ottomans. As a result, the Ottomans will have to declare victory by successfully stalling the British Empire and drawing the majority of its force to successfully allow the Soviets and Japanese conquer Asia. Surely such a great power could have easily crushed the Ottomans if one had tried to.

Can't Touch This.

British reject Ottoman demands

The British have reconsidered their proposition, in the light of the Ottomans arrogant demands and have concluded that a surrender would not be fitting until the Ottoman Empire is destroyed and forced to concede that it is in no position to arbitrate between the great powers or consider itself a member of the victorious coalition. No British territory, let alone all of it, shall be granted to the Ottoman Empire. As to sacrifice, the British Empire has shown itself prepared to sacrifice its role in the game and whatever territories the Russo-Japanese deem necessary to declare themselves victorious. The British will sacrifice to foes who have proven themselves superior in the war, not to a petty state which has proved unable to withstand British might, let alone Russian might.

The British await the opinion of the Dutch and other great powers on this matter.

Ottomans Call for Reparations

Over the past few years, the Ottomans have endured relentless, yet failed, attacks by the British Empire. In light of the recent post, if the British are willing to leave Ottomans territories in such ruin the Ottomans demand the return of their territories as well as all of the British Empire's territories. Such cowards do not deserve peace unless they are willing to make sacrifices.

In other news, here is a hilarious picture:

British Sue for Peace

After Considering the ultimate futility of the present struggle given Russo-Japanese superiority in numbers, ill-luck, and the collapse of the defensive perimeter around India and in the middle east, His majesty's government is inclined, with the permission of their Dutch allies, to concede victory to the winning coalition of Russia and Japan before it shall have obtained the necessary two-thirds. The said coalition is, of course, at liberty to continue their attacks and/or color the map as they please, however the Anglo-Dutch alliance shall have considered the game to be finished and its leaders shall turn themselves to higher matters.

If the Dutch Empire is in agreement, let them post this as a comment.

Ottomans take Aden and keep Shiraz!

I will survive

Fall 1926

There were some confusing things that I want to clear up:

1. The British Med. fleet and the Ottoman Syria fleet bounced over Egypt. The Russians dislodged the British fleet that was forced to remain in the Med. The British fleet could not retreat since there was a stand-off over Egypt and was thus destroyed.

2. The support Persia gave into Shiraz was cut by Bokhara, so Baghdad was only supported into Shiraz by the Persian Gulf, while Shiraz was supported into Baghdad by both Tabriz and Armenia. Thus the British army in Baghdad was dislodged and destroyed.

Note: The Russians technically moved through Shiraz - it is still an Ottoman possession.

Victorious Soviet Army takes Lhasa

This past fall, victorious Red Army soldiers, led by General Abdulmalik , a muslin communist from the formerly Chinese - held province of Sinkiang, led a corps of Guards Infantry into the historic city of Lhasa, claiming it for the Soviet Union. His holiness the Dalai Lama welcomed the victoriousgeneral with open arms, happy to be freed from the yoke of their former British Imperial masters. The Red Army has won a huge victory and has now set its sights on the biggest prize of all: India.

Anglo-Dutch Declaration of Unity

From Byzantium and the Hellespont to the quays of Hong Kong, an Iron Curtain has descended across the continent. Behind that line lie all the the capitals of the ancient states of northern Asia. Peking, Samarkand, Constantinople, Tokyo, Kabul, Tehran, Baghdad, Jerusalem, and Damascus; all these famous cities and the populations around them lie in what I must call the Soviet sphere, and all are subject, in one form or another, not only to Soviet influence but to a very high and in some cases increasing measure of control from Moscow.

In a great number of countries, far from the Russian frontiers and throughout the world, Communist fifth columns are established and work in complete unity and absolute obedience to the directions they receive from the Communist center. The safety of Asia requires a unity from Briton and Dutchman alike in which neither must be made outcast or defenseless by the other. If the population of the British Empire be added to that of the Dutch, with all that such cooperation implies in the air, on the sea, all over Asia, and in science and in industry, and in moral force, there will be an overwhelming assurance of security and hope for eventual triumph over the dark forces of Communism and Fascism which our foes propagate.

Ottomans Set Sail for Bombay!

In a recent turn of events of epic proportions, the Ottoman's Persian fleet sailed into the Arabian Sea. General Midic S. Hurton called the sailing a "huge victory" and claimed Bombay for the Ottomans. The British have yet to comment on the gaffe. In the Mediterranean, the British took temporary control of Egypt, luckily the Ottoman Empire has stored over a decades worth of sand and camels and will not be phased by the takeover. General Midic S. Hurton welcomes the British offensive and is honored to have such a large British force divoted to fighting the small Ottoman Empire.

Quality of Quantity....(the Soviets help too).

Red Army "Sets the East Ablaze"

As is evident on the map, Soviet forces have retaken Kashgar, conquered Sinkiang, temporarily occupied Tabriz, and liberated Upper Burma from the clutches of British and Dutch colonial masters. The most recent stage of the Great Game has turned violent, as Soviet forces moved against the British territory of Upper Burma, seizing the vital regional supply point and establishing a foothold in Indochina, with the help of guerilla fighters of the Vietminh (Communist rebels from French Vietnam).

After this amazing conquest, the Comintern and their Japanese nationalist allies have essentially secured all of China and now have turned their sights on the Indian subcontinent and the pacific islands. Tabriz has temporarily been occupied by the Red Army, but negotiations are underway to return the province to Ottoman control. Elsewhere, Kashgar, the capital of Chinese Turkestan, was re-liberated by Soviet General Trotsky himself, utterly destroying the Imperialist Chinese forces in the capital.

Imperial British and Dutch forces are on the defensive all across the continent of Asia, as they cannot withstand the might and fury of the Proletariat and the Revolution!

Fall 1923

If you see anything wrong let me know. I am aware of one of two things that might need explaining (concerning a convoy). I will update the back map tomorrow when I do the builds, which are due tomorrow.

Spring 1923

Spring 1923 - A note, China failed to get in moves, and thus is in civil disorder.

Moves!!!!!

I mentioned to two of you a 9:30 pm tonight deadline for moves. I'm serious, we have to keep this game moving considering we've only done two submissions this week. Get them in or we will post the map without them (and therefore move on without them).

The Dutch have told me to say that they will build a fleet in Borneo and armies in Sumatra and Java. Also, remember to have the Java Sea fleet in the Sunda Sea.

Get Builds in Tomorrow

We are postponing builds until tomorrow since some people haven't gotten theirs in. I wont be around after or during lunch, so given them to Harry or Matt J. Reminder: The Dutch have 2 builds, the British 3, The Russians 1, and the Chinese must remove 1.

CHINA DECLARES MASSIVE SEA AND LAND VICTORY

In the capital area of Canton, China has declared victory across Asia. With help from 10 million German Soldiers and Sailors, China has mastered Asia. "Unlike Napoleon and Hitler before us," said Chinese Premire Mespeka Bul-Shet, "Russia was not too cold, and we had major success. We also did not need the major islands of Indonesia to build and build and build. We simply made victory. "

---------MESSAGE INTERCEPT----------INCOMING MESSAGE FROM USSR----------

Greetings my Cantonese comrades, this is General Vasili Zaitsev of the Soviet Signal Corps. We have disrupted your telephone lines and have jammed your radio frequencies, intercepting the above message. Comrades across Asia, this Chinese propaganda is a lie. They have not won. They will never win. Mother Russia is crushing them across the continent and liberating millions in our wake. Soviet and British forces are now working together for the first time in order to stop the Chinese menace.

---------END FINAL TRANSMISSION---------------------------------------------------

WIR MUSSEN DEN RUSSEN VERNICHTEN!

Fall 1922

I forgot where the Java Sea fleet was, so I left it there. Someone let me know where it is. Also, I updated the background map. And of course, I forgot to color something in (Hyderabad).

British Empire labels Ottomans for "annihilation" following violation of peace treaty

Residents of Asia were stunned when, last December, the Ottoman Sultan and other dignitaries of the Sublime Port signed a treaty of near-unconditional surrender to the British government, ceding all their territories south of Turkey to British jurisdiction. This year, however, has shown further evidence of Constantinople's erratic foreign policy when, in a dramatic and literal about-face, Turkey struck back at British forces moving in to occupy Egypt and Iraq according to the terms of a treaty which the Ottoman government had signed. Ottoman treachery was completed when units of the empire's Black Sea fleet launched an all-out attack on Soviet ports in the Crimea.

British foreign secretary William Athgate comments:
"Turkish policy at this point is totally inexplicable. In a matter days they have simultaneously insulted the two Great Powers which border on them and made themselves open to attack from either. In my view, the future of the Ottoman Empire is bleak at this point unless the Turks can pull off a maneuver as brilliant as previous ones have been erratic."

Meanwhile, British Imperial High Command have delivered more pointed criticisms against this Turkish betrayal, declaring the Ottoman Empire "fit for annihilation". British forces in the Middle East are now advancing in strength and it seems likely that soon they will have seized by force what was denied them by diplomacy.

Breaking news from Moscow

Spring 1922, Moscow: Comrade Premier Lenin just announced that the Russian embassy in Istanbul has been evacuated. As the Odessa garrison mobilizes, the AP is wondering what has happened between the previously peaceful Soviet Empire and the Ottoman Turks.
the end is near.... beware the ides of march.

Soviet forces liberate Chinese capital!

Spring 1922, Peking: The victorious forces of the Soviet Red Army have captured the Chinese capital of Peking, dealing a crushing blow to the Asian nation resisting Soviet liberation. As General Suvarov's men raised the Red Flag over the city, Soviet forces accepted the surrender of the remaining defenders.

In other news: Chechen saboteurs have attacked the currently under-construction oil pipeline in Baku, leading to the deployment of the 121st Guards Cavalry division to the province. Comrade Meers of the Associate Press was very happy to hear that the Russians are chasing Chechens.

Anglo-Dutch Entente declares French Indo-China a "failed state".

Royal Navy Battleship Glorious preparing to bombard French coastal defenses

In their first summit meeting, hosted in the Viceregal Palace in Delhi, the Emperor of India and the Governor of the Dutch East Indies have analyzed the rapidly deteriorating authority of France in its Indo-Chinease Provinces as Communist and rebel guerrilla attacks become more frequent and damaging. The two leaders have concluded that something must be done to curtail this chaos, uncomfortably close Anglo-Dutch possessions, before communist and seditious influence spreads. Following a French catastrophe at the village of Dien Bien Phu, the Anglo-Dutch leaders finally have declared French Indo-China to be a "failed state" which "merits immediate intervention by our Imperial forces to restore order and stability". A British fleet has already landed marines in the Gulf of Tonking and seized major northern cities of Vietnam such as Hanoi. As they await British and Dutch reinforcements, British forces are digging for what may be a long campaign against the scattered remnants of the French army, as well as the Vietcong and other insurgents.

Finally, A Map! Winter 1921

Three things:

1. I forgot to color Shiraz blue. I will change its color next time I update the backing map.
2. The Dutch Empire was given 3 fleets. This is an assumption I made so that I could post this map so people could see it before tomorrow. If the Dutch want this changed, they should see me and I'll be happy to fix it.
3. The French fleet in the Gulf of Siam was removed as per the Diplomacy rules for removing units for countries in civil disorder.

Anglo-Dutch Entente

In November 1920, diplomats representing the British Empire and the Dutch East Indies officially announced a full offensive and defensive alliance in matters pertaining to the continent of Asia. This 'Anglo-Dutch Entente' had been an open secret for almost a year before the two empires' leaders chose to announce their understanding. Observers in south-east Asia report evidence of British and Dutch forces working together against French colonials, however the arrival of a Dutch fleet in the former British base of Singapore, according to the terms of the Treaty of Singapore, has heralded a new intensity of cooperation.
When asked about the intentions of this new entente, the British Imperial Foreign Office has announced "to ensure the safe-guarding of the south portions of Asia from all forms of tyranny that may seek to replace the enlightened and reasonable hand of British and Dutch rule with something which casts the burden on the subjects rather than our own sorry hides."

A reminder: the French need to disband a unit even if their leader is inactive

We really need to get the maps up regularly
