British reject Ottoman demands

The British have reconsidered their proposition, in the light of the Ottomans arrogant demands and have concluded that a surrender would not be fitting until the Ottoman Empire is destroyed and forced to concede that it is in no position to arbitrate between the great powers or consider itself a member of the victorious coalition. No British territory, let alone all of it, shall be granted to the Ottoman Empire. As to sacrifice, the British Empire has shown itself prepared to sacrifice its role in the game and whatever territories the Russo-Japanese deem necessary to declare themselves victorious. The British will sacrifice to foes who have proven themselves superior in the war, not to a petty state which has proved unable to withstand British might, let alone Russian might.

The British await the opinion of the Dutch and other great powers on this matter.
